दुर्गा दुर्गार्तिशमनी दुर्गापद्विनिवारिणी।

durgā durgārti śamanī durgāpadvinivāriṇī

दुर्गमच्छेदिनी दुर्गसाधिनी दुर्गनाशिनी॥

durgāmachChēdinī durgasādhinī durganāśinī

दुर्गतोद्धारिणी दुर्गनिहन्त्री दुर्गमापहा।

durgatōddhāriṇī durganihantrī durgamāpahā

दुर्गमज्ञानदा दुर्गदैत्यलोकदवानला॥

durgamajñānadā durga daityalōkadavānalā

दुर्गमा दुर्गमालोका दुर्गमात्मस्वरूपिणी।

durgamādurgamālōkā durgamātmasvarūpiī

दुर्गमार्गप्रदा दुर्गमविद्या दुर्गमाश्रिता॥        

durgamārgapradā durgamavidyā durgamāśritā

दुर्गमज्ञानसंस्थाना दुर्गमध्यानभासिनी।

durgamajñānasasthānā durgamadhyānabhāsinī

दुर्गमोहा दुर्गमगा दुर्गमार्थस्वरूपिणी॥

durgamōhā durgamagā durgamārthasvarūpiī

दुर्गमासुरसंहन्त्री दुर्गमायुधधारिणी।

durgamāsurasahantrī durgamāyudhadhāriī

दुर्गमाङ्गी दुर्गमता दुर्गम्या दुर्गमेश्वरी॥

durgamāgī durgamātā durgamyā durgamēśvarī

दुर्गभीमा दुर्गभामा दुर्गभा दुर्गदारिणी।

durgabhīmā durgabhāmā durlabhā durgadhāriī

नामावलिमिमां यस्तु दुर्गाया मम मानवः॥

nāmāvaīmimāyāstū durgayā mama mānava

पठेत् सर्वभयान्मुक्तो भविष्यति संशयः॥

pahētsarvabhayānmuktō bhaviṣyati na saśaya

 

इति दुर्गाद्वात्रिंशन्नाममाला सम्पूर्णम्

||iti durgā-dvātriṁśannāma-mālā samāptā||

 

Here are the meanings of the Thirty-two names:

  1. दुर्गा durgā

The divine mother who is invincible and unassailable. The goddess whose blessings can be received with much rigorous sādhanā .

2. दुर्गार्तिशमनी durgārtiśamanī

The one who brings an end to anything that brings painful difficulties to us.

3. दुर्गापद्विनिवारिणी durgāpadvinivāriṇī

The one who dispels all ‘ āpadā ‘ that is danger and problems; the mother Goddess who is the dispeller of adversities. She gives absolute protection to her sincere devotees and saves them from all known or unknown dangers.

4. दुर्गमच्छेदिनी durgamacchedinī

The one who cleaves off all kinds of physical and spiritual challenges obstructing the path of her true devotees.

5. दुर्गसाधिनी durgasādhinī

The one who gets all difficult things accomplished for her sādhaka.

6. दुर्गनाशिनी durganāśinī

She, who destroys the ‘durga’ or forts that confine us mentally or metaphorically and liberates us from all bondages and limitations.

7. दुर्गतोद्धारिणी durgatoddhāriṇī

The magnanimous one who delivers her sādhaka from all formidable difficulties.

8. दुर्गनिहन्त्री durganihantrī

The one who destroys all terrible components troubling her devotees.

9. दुर्गमापहा durgamāpahā

The one who dispels all durgama-s or difficulties, miseries, afflictions, sufferings etc.

10. दुर्गमज्ञानदा durgamajñānadā

The one who imparts the āna or knowledge which is not easily attainable.

11. दुर्गदैत्यलोकदवानला durgadaityalokadavānalā

The one who, like a terrible forest fire, destroys the world of the divisive forces.

12. दुर्गमा durgamā

The one whose domain is not easy to enter.

13. दुर्गमालोका durgamālokā

The one who brings to the fore, all that is unknown and is hidden and difficult to attain. The mother who illuminates our mind and senses by bringing forth concealed knowledge.

14. दुर्गमात्मस्वरुपिणी durgamātmasvarūpiṇī

She who is embodiment of the self that cannot be realised easily, like atma-jñāna. She is ātma-jñāna herself.

15. दुर्गमार्गप्रदा durgamārgapradā

The one who gives guidance and who handholds her devotees in the difficult path he treads.

16. दुर्गमविद्या durgamavidyā

She herself is the knowledge difficult to attain. She is the most subtle, most sublime knowledge. She is the source of all vidya and art forms.

17. दुर्गमाश्रिता durgamāśritā

She is the one whose support is not easy to receive. It must be earned with strict and devotional austerity.

18. दुर्गमज्ञानसंस्थाना durgamajñānasasthānā

The one who is the source and foundation of all knowledge that is unattainable. She who is the bearer and dispenser of the highest, supreme and sacred knowledge.

19. दुर्गमध्यानभासिनी durgamadhyānabhāsinī

( bhās means to appear/shine). The one who appears in dhyāna (meditation).

We cannot manifest the Mother Goddess through ordinary meditation. Only those who can perform intense dhyāna along with purity of thought and action can earn the blessing of the Divine Mother appearing in and illuminating in meditation.

20. दुर्गमोहा durgamohā

(moha means delusion) When the Divine Mother used māyā and moha on the demon Mahishasura, he could not comprehend what hit him. He was confused, disoriented and destroyed.

Durgamohā is the one who is unfathomable and incomprehensible. She is enigmatic. Only a sādhaka with complete awareness can do so.

21. दुर्गमगा durgamagā

She is the one who can make the unattainable, attainable.

22. दुर्गमार्थस्वरुपिणी durgamārthasvarūpiṇī

She, the one who holds in her artha, the meaning the purpose of all that one finds incomprehensible.

23. दुर्गमासुरसंहन्त्री durgamāsurasahantrī

All adverse forces that can destroy one at an individual or collective level can be destroyed by her. She who is the annihilator of asuric (negative) and adverse forces which are unassailable.

24. दुर्गमायुधधारिणी durgamāyudhadhāriṇī

She who is the bearer of the most powerful weapons which cannot be handled by others.

25. दुर्गमाङ्गी durgamāṅgī

She, whose form is complex and indiscernible.

26. दुर्गमता durgamatā

(durgama = difficult). She who is the epitome of all difficulties as she has power to bring them under control.

27. दुर्गम्या durgamyā

The one who is not easily attainable or understood.

28. दुर्गमेश्वरी durgameśvarī

She who is the ruler, the controller, the master, the īśvarī— of all difficult situations. She rules over all impossible situations and has the power to keep them under control or destroy them completely.

29. दुर्गभीमा durgabhīmā

(bhīmā= terrible) She, the one who is terrifying to all those who create complications and obstacles.

30. दुर्गभामा durgabhāmā

(bhāmā= shining) She who shines or appears when there are obstacles (as her devotees need her then).

31. दुर्गभा durgabhā

She who illuminates and radiates as she annihilates negative forces.

32. दुर्गदारिणी durgadāriṇī

She is the one who slices and slashes all obstacles and hindrances and shatters them.

Pranamya shirasa devam Gauri putram Vinayakam ।
Bhakthavasam smaretrityamayuh kama artha sidhaye ॥1॥
प्रणम्य शिरसा देवं गौरी विनायकम् ।
भक्तावासं स्मेर नित्यमाय्ः कामार्थसिद्धये ॥१॥


Prathamam Vakratundam cha, Ekadantam dwitiyakam ।
Tritiyam Krushna Pingaksham, Gajavaktram Chaturthakam ॥2॥
प्रथमं वक्रतुडं च एकदंत द्वितीयकम् ।
तृतियं कृष्णपिंगात्क्षं गजववत्रं चतुर्थकम् ॥२॥


Lambodaram Panchamam cha, Sashtam Vikatamev cha ।
Saptamam Vignarajam cha, Dhoomravarnam tathashtamam ॥3॥
लंबोदरं पंचम च पष्ठं विकटमेव च ।
सप्तमं विघ्नराजेंद्रं धूम्रवर्ण तथाष्टमम् ॥३॥


Navamam Bhalchandram cha, Dashamam tu Vinayakam ।
Ekadasham Ganapatim, Dwadasham tu Gajananam ॥4॥
नवमं भाल चंद्रं च दशमं तु विनायकम् ।
एकादशं गणपतिं द्वादशं तु गजानन् ॥४॥


Dwadasaithani namani, Trisandhyam yah pathenara ।
Na cha vighna bhayam tasya, Sarvsiddhi karam param ॥5॥
द्वादशैतानि नामानि त्रिसंघ्यंयः पठेन्नरः ।
न च विघ्नभयं तस्य सर्वसिद्धिकरं प्रभो ॥५॥


Vidhyarthi labhate Vidhyam, Danarthi labhate Dhanam ।
Putrarthi labhate Putran, Moksharthi labhate Gateem ॥6॥
विद्यार्थी लभते विद्यां धनार्थी लभते धनम् ।
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रान्मो क्षार्थी लभते गतिम् ॥६॥


Japet Ganapati stotram, Shadbhirmasai phalam labheth ।
Samvatsarena sidhim cha, Labhate natra sanshaya ॥7॥
जपेद्णपतिस्तोत्रं षडिभर्मासैः फलं लभते ।
संवत्सरेण सिद्धिंच लभते नात्र संशयः ॥७॥


Ashtabhyo Brahmoyashr Likihitwa yh samarpayet ।
Tasya Vidhya bhavetsarva Ganeshasya Prasadatah ॥8॥
अष्टभ्यो ब्राह्मणे भ्यश्र्च लिखित्वा फलं लभते ।
तस्य विद्या भवेत्सर्वा गणेशस्य प्रसादतः ॥८॥

॥ इति श्री नारद पुराणे संकष्टनाशनं नाम श्री गणपति स्तोत्रं संपूर्णम् ॥

Atha Tantroktam Devi Suktam (Chandi Path) - अथ तन्त्रोक्तं देविसुक्तम् (चण्डी पाठ)

 
नमो देव्यै महादेव्यै शिवायै सततं नमः।
नमः प्रकृत्यै भद्रायै नियताः प्रणताः स्मतां ॥१॥
namo devyai mahādevyai śivāyai satata nama
nama praktyai bhadrāyai niyatāḥ praatāḥ smatāṃ ॥1॥
 
We bow to the Goddess, to the Great Goddess, to the energy of infinite goodness. We prostrate, with hands together, to Nature, to the excellent one.

रौद्राय नमो नित्यायै गौर्यै धात्र्यै नमो नमः
ज्योत्स्नायै चेन्दुरूपिण्यै सुखायै सततं नमः ॥२॥
raudrāya namo nityāyai gauryai dhātryai namo nama
jyotsnāyai cendurūpiyai sukhāyai satata nama ॥2॥
 
We bow to the reliever of sufferings, to the eternal, to the embodiment of rays of light. We continually bow to the Goddess who manifests light, to the form of devotion, to Happiness.

कल्याण्यै प्रणता वृद्ध्यै सिद्ध्यै कुर्मो नमो नमः।
नैरृत्यै भूभृतां लक्ष्मै शर्वाण्यै ते नमो नमः ॥३॥
kalyāṇyai praatā vddhyai siddhyai kurmo namo nama
nairtyai bhūbhtāṃ lakmai śarvāṇyai te namo nama ॥3॥
 
We bow to change, to perfection, to dissolution, to the wealth which sustains earth, to the wife of Shiva, the Blessed Mother of the World, we bow.

दुर्गायै दुर्गपारायै सारायै सर्वकारिण्यै
ख्यात्यै तथैव कृष्णायै धूम्रायै सततं नमः ॥४॥
durgāyai durgapārāyai sārāyai sarvakāriyai
khyātyai tathaiva kṛṣṇāyai dhūmrāyai satata nama ॥4॥
 
We bow to the one who removes difficulties, who moves beyond all difficulties, to the essence. We continually bow to the doer of all, to perception and to the unknowable one.

अतिसौम्यतिरौद्रायै नतास्तस्यै नमो नमः
नमो जगत्प्रतिष्ठायै देव्यै कृत्यै नमो नमः ॥५॥
atisaumyatiraudrāyai natāstasyai namo nama
namo jagatpratiṣṭhāyai devyai ktyai namo nama ॥5॥
 
We bow to the extremely beautiful and to the extremely fierce. We bow to the establisher of the perceivable world and who is mundane existence, we bow.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू विष्णुमायेति शब्धिता।
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥६॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū viṣṇumāyeti śabdhitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥6॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who is the power of Lord Vishnu. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू चेतनेत्यभिधीयते।
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥७॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū cetanetyabhidhīyate।
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥7॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides throughout Consciousness and is known by the reflections of mind. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू बुद्धिरूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥८॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū buddhirūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥8॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of wisdom. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू निद्रारूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥९॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū nidrārūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥9॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of sleep. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू क्षुधारूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥१०॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū kudhārūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥10॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of hunger. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू छायारूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥११॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū chāyārūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥11॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of the shadow of the Real Being. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू शक्तिरूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥१२॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū śaktirūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥12॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of divine energy. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू तृष्णारूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥१३॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū tṛṣṇārūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥13॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of thirst. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू क्षान्तिरूपेण संस्थिता

yādevī sarvabhūteṣū kṣāntirūpea sasthitā

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू जातिरूपेण संस्थिता

yādevī sarvabhūteṣū jātirūpea sasthitā

We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of social classification . We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू लज्जारूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥१६॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū lajjārūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥16॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of humility. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू शान्तिरूपेण संस्थिता

yādevī sarvabhūteṣū lakmīrūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥20॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of true wealth. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू वृत्तिरूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२१॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū vttirūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥21॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of change. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू स्मृतिरूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२२॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū smtirūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥22॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of memory. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू दयारूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२३॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū dayārūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥23॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of compassion. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू तुष्टिरूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२४॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū tuṣṭirūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥24॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of satisfaction. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू मातृरूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२५॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū mātrūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥25॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of Mother. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.
यादेवी सर्वभूतेषू भ्रान्तिरूपेण संस्थिता
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२६॥
yādevī sarvabhūteṣū bhrāntirūpea sasthitā
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥26॥
 
We bow to the divine Goddess existing in all, who resides in the form of confusion. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

इन्द्रियाणामधिष्ठात्री भूतानां चाखिलेषु या।
भूतेषु सततं तस्यै व्याप्ति देव्यै नमो नमः ॥२७॥
indriyāṇāmadhiṣṭhātrī bhūtānāṃ cākhileu yā
bhūteu satata tasyai vyāpti devyai namo nama ॥27॥
 
Presiding over the senses of all beings and pervading all existence, to the omnipresent Goddess who individualizes creation we bow, we bow.

चितिरूपेण या कृत्स्नमेत द्व्याप्य स्थिता जगत्
नमस्तस्यै, नमस्तस्यै,नमस्तस्यै नमोनमः ॥२८॥
citirūpea yā ktsnameta dvyāpya sthitā jagat
namastasyai, namastasyai,namastasyai namonama ॥28॥
 
In the form of consciousness, She distinguishes the individual phenomena of the perceivable universe. We bow to Her, we bow to Her and we continually bow to Her.

स्तुतासुरैः पूर्वमभीष्ट संश्रयात्तथा सुरेन्द्रेण दिनेषुसेविता।
करोतुसा नः शुभहेतुरीश्वरी शुभानि भद्राण्य भिहन्तु चापदः ॥२९॥
stutāsurai pūrvamabhīṣṭa saṃśrayāttathā surendrea dineusevitā
karotusā na śubhaheturīśvarī śubhāni bhadrāṇya bhihantu cāpada ॥29॥

या साम्प्रतं चोद्धतदैत्यतापितै रस्माभिरीशाचसुरैर्नमश्यते।
याच स्मता तत्क्षण मेव हन्ति नः सर्वा पदोभक्तिविनम्रमूर्तिभिः ॥३०॥
yā sāmprata coddhatadaityatāpitai rasmābhirīśācasurairnamaśyate।
yāca smatā tatkaa meva hanti na sarvā padobhaktivinamramūrtibhi ॥30॥
 
Let the Goddess who brings good fortune, who is praised by the Gods, who is served by Devendra, who is praised by Devas troubled by the Asuras, who is praised and remembered as devotion to her solves all, who is the source of all good in the world, let that Goddess destroy all obstacles.
