श्री लक्ष्मी अष्टोत्तर शतनाम स्तोत्रम् -- Sri Lakshmi Ashtottara Shatanama Stotram

वंदे पद्मकरां प्रसन्नवदनां सौभाग्यदां भाग्यदां
हस्ताभ्यामभयप्रदां मणिगणैः नानाविधैः भूषिताम् ।
vandē padmakarāṃ prasannavadanāṃ saubhāgyadāṃ bhāgyadāṃ
hastābhyāmabhayapradāṃ maṇigaṇaiḥ nānāvidhaiḥ bhūṣitām ।

(I pray to Thee, who is lotus-handed, possesses a smiling face, bestows wellness and prosperity, gestures the protection sign with her hands, and is adorned with different kinds of jewels.)

भक्ताभीष्ट फलप्रदां हरिहर ब्रह्माधिभिस्सेवितां
पार्श्वे पंकज शंखपद्म निधिभिः युक्तां सदा शक्तिभिः ॥

bhaktābhīṣṭa phalapradāṃ harihara brahmādhibhissēvitāṃ
pārśvē paṅkaja śaṅkhapadma nidhibhiḥ yuktāṃ sadā śaktibhiḥ ॥

(you are the bestower of devotees' wishes, yourself being served by Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma, etc.; holding on your sides the weapon of the Wheel, Conch, Lotus, and other precious things. You are the ever-powerful Goddess.)

 
सरसिज नयने सरोजहस्ते धवल तरांशुक गंधमाल्य शोभे ।
भगवति हरिवल्लभे मनोज्ञे त्रिभुवन भूतिकरि प्रसीदमह्यम् ॥

sarasija nayanē sarōjahastē dhavaḻa tarāṃśuka gandhamālya śōbhē ।
bhagavati harivallabhē manōjñē tribhuvana bhūtikari prasīdamahyam ॥

 
(O lotus-eyed Goddess! lotus-handed and adorned with the garlands of fragrant white flowers; O Supreme Goddess, consort of Vishnu (Hari), who is handsome and pleasant, please bless all the beings of the three worlds forever.)

प्रकृतिं विकृतिं विद्यां सर्वभूत-हितप्रदाम् ।
श्रद्धां विभूतिं सुरभिं नमामि परमात्मिकाम् ॥ 1 ॥

prakṛtiṃ vikṛtiṃ vidyāṃ sarvabhūta-hitapradām ।
śraddhāṃ vibhūtiṃ surabhiṃ namāmi paramātmikām ॥ 1 ॥

(I pray to Thee who is the embodiment of Natural force, unnatural force, knowledge, protection for all beings, care, incarnation power, fragrance, the supreme soul.)

वाचं पद्मालयां पद्मां शुचिं स्वाहां स्वधां सुधाम् ।
धन्यां हिरण्ययीं लक्ष्मीं नित्यपुष्टां विभावरीम् ॥ 2 ॥

vāchaṃ padmālayāṃ padmāṃ śuchiṃ svāhāṃ svadhāṃ sudhām ।
dhanyāṃ hiraṇyayīṃ lakṣmīṃ nityapuṣṭāṃ vibhāvarīm ॥ 2 ॥

(pleasantly talkative, having the lotus as the abode, lotus-resembling, pure, ultimate, self-powered, herself the nectar, blessed one, gold-studded, ever healthy, wealthy)

अदितिं च दितिं दीप्तां वसुधां वसुधारिणीम् ।
नमामि कमलां कांतां कामाक्षीं क्रोधसंभवाम् [काम्यां क्षीरोदसंभवाम्] ॥ 3 ॥

aditiṃ cha ditiṃ dīptāṃ vasudhāṃ vasudhāriṇīm ।
namāmi kamalāṃ kāntāṃ kāmākṣīṃ krōdhasambhavām [kāmyāṃ kṣīrōdasambhavām] ॥ 3 ॥

(the limitless One and at the same a limited One, the ever-shining light, she is the Earth and at the same time the One who holds the earth, I bow to thee, O Lotus-Like Beautiful One, consort of Vishnu, personificatin of forgiveness, One born from the Ocean of Nectar)

अनुग्रहप्रदां बुद्धि-मनघां हरिवल्लभाम् ।
अशोका-ममृतां दीप्तां लोकशोकविनाशिनीम् ॥ 4 ॥

anugrahapradāṃ buddhi-managhāṃ harivallabhām ।
aśōkā-mamṛtāṃ dīptāṃ lōkaśōkavināśinīm ॥ 4 ॥

(bestower of grace, the abode of wisdom, virtuous, possessing Hari as her consort, griefless one, deathless, the abode of light, destructor of worldly sorrows)

नमामि धर्मनिलयां करुणां लोकमातरम् ।
पद्मप्रियां पद्महस्तां पद्माक्षीं पद्मसुंदरीम् ॥ 5 ॥

namāmi dharmanilayāṃ karuṇāṃ lōkamātaram ।
padmapriyāṃ padmahastāṃ padmākṣīṃ padmasundarīm ॥ 5 ॥

(Salutations! O Abode of Righteousness and Kindness, Mother of Universe, One who loves Lotuses, Holds lotus in hand, Lotus-Resembling Eyed, Beautiful like the Lotus)

पद्मोद्भवां पद्ममुखीं पद्मनाभप्रियां रमाम् ।
पद्ममालाधरां देवीं पद्मिनीं पद्मगंधिनीम् ॥ 6 ॥

padmōdbhavāṃ padmamukhīṃ padmanābhapriyāṃ ramām ।
padmamālādharāṃ dēvīṃ padminīṃ padmagandhinīm ॥ 6 ॥

(One who rose from Padma or Lotus, Lotus-faced, Beloved of Vishnu, O RamAdEvi, One who wears the lotus garland, O Goddess Padmini, Who is Lotus-Scented)

पुण्यगंधां सुप्रसन्नां प्रसादाभिमुखीं प्रभाम् ।

नमामि चंद्रवदनां चंद्रां चंद्रसहोदरीम् ॥ 7 ॥

puṇyagandhāṃ suprasannāṃ prasādābhimukhīṃ prabhām ।
namāmi chandravadanāṃ chandrāṃ chandrasahōdarīm ॥ 7 ॥

 

(One who emits purity, pleasingly generous, one who loves offerings, O Light, I bow to Thee O Moon-Like-Faced, O Moon-Resembled, Sister of the Moon)
 
चतुर्भुजां चंद्ररूपा-मिंदिरा-मिंदुशीतलाम् ।
आह्लाद जननीं पुष्टिं शिवां शिवकरीं सतीम् ॥ 8 ॥
chaturbhujāṃ chandrarūpā-mindirā-minduśītalām ।
āhlāda jananīṃ puṣṭiṃ śivāṃ śivakarīṃ satīm ॥ 8 ॥
 
(O Four-Handed, Moon-Like-Figured, beautiful like blue lotus, pleasingly cool, provider of happiness, well-built, blissful, provider of bliss, virtuous)
 
विमलां विश्वजननीं तुष्टिं दारिद्र्यनाशिनीम् ।
प्रीतिपुष्करिणीं शांतां शुक्लमाल्यांबरां श्रियम् ॥ 9 ॥
vimalāṃ viśvajananīṃ tuṣṭiṃ dāridryanāśinīm ।
prītipuṣkariṇīṃ śāntāṃ śuklamālyāmbarāṃ śriyam ॥ 9 ॥

 
(O Blemishless, mother of Universe, abundance, destroyer of poverty, the abode of love, peaceful One, white-garlanded, Goddess of wealth)

 

भास्करीं बिल्वनिलयां वरारोहां यशस्विनीम् ।
वसुंधरा मुदारांगां हरिणीं हेममालिनीम् ॥ 10 ॥
bhāskarīṃ bilvanilayāṃ varārōhāṃ yaśasvinīm ।
vasundharā mudārāṅgāṃ hariṇīṃ hēmamālinīm ॥ 10 ॥
 
(O Brilliance, the native of the spiritual Bilva trees, accessible by boons, famous One, holder of the earth, soft-hearted, deer-like bodied, garlanded with gold)

 

धनधान्यकरीं सिद्धिं स्त्रैणसौम्यां [सदासौम्यां] शुभप्रदाम् ।
नृपवेश्मगतां नंदां वरलक्ष्मीं वसुप्रदाम् ॥ 11 ॥
dhanadhānyakarīṃ siddhiṃ straiṇasaumyāṃ [sadāsaumyāṃ] śubhapradām ।
nṛpavēśmagatāṃ nandāṃ varalakṣmīṃ vasupradām ॥ 11 ॥
 
(provider of wealth and food, supernal powers, steadfastness, softness, and welfare provider, One who rejoices in palaces, bestower of gifts, and brilliance provider)

 
शुभां हिरण्यप्राकारां समुद्रतनयां जयाम् ।
नमामि मंगलां देवीं विष्णुवक्षःस्थलस्थिताम् ॥ 12 ॥
śubhāṃ hiraṇyaprākārāṃ samudratanayāṃ jayām ।
namāmi maṅgaḻāṃ dēvīṃ viṣṇuvakṣaḥsthalasthitām ॥ 12 ॥

 (auspicious one, dweller amidst golden surroundings, daughter of Ocean, goddess of victory, salutations to auspicious one, Goddess of angels, one who resides in the heart of Vishnu)

 
विष्णुपत्नीं, प्रसन्नाक्षीं नारायणसमाश्रिताम् ।
दारिद्र्यध्वंसिनीं देवीं सर्वोपद्रववारिणीम् ॥ 13 ॥
viṣṇupatnīṃ, prasannākṣīṃ nārāyaṇasamāśritām ।
dāridryadhvaṃsinīṃ dēvīṃ sarvōpadravavāriṇīm ॥ 13 ॥
 
(O Consort of Vishnu, merciful-eyed, dedicated to Narayana, the destructor of poverty, O Devi, remover of all problems)

 
नवदुर्गां महाकालीं ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवात्मिकाम् ।
त्रिकालज्ञानसंपन्नां नमामि भुवनेश्वरीम् ॥ 14 ॥
navadurgāṃ mahākāḻīṃ brahmaviṣṇuśivātmikām ।
trikālajñānasampannāṃ namāmi bhuvanēśvarīm ॥ 14 ॥
 
(O Nine-Formed One; Goddess Mahakali; beloved by Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva; possessor of the knowledge of past, present, and future; Salutations to Thee, O Goddess of Worlds)
 

Surrendrance to Goddess Lakshmi

The following two hymns of four lines are recited to express your devotion and thereby confirm your submission to her refuge.

लक्ष्मीं क्षीरसमुद्रराज तनयां श्रीरंगधामेश्वरीम् ।
दासीभूत समस्तदेव वनितां लोकैक दीपांकुराम् ॥
श्रीमन्मंद कटाक्ष लब्ध विभवद्-ब्रह्मेंद्र गंगाधराम् ।
त्वां त्रैलोक्य कुटुंबिनीं सरसिजां वंदे मुकुंदप्रियाम् ॥ 15 ॥

lakṣmīṃ kṣīrasamudrarāja tanayāṃ śrīraṅgadhāmēśvarīm ।
dāsībhūta samastadēva vanitāṃ lōkaika dīpāṅkurām ॥
śrīmanmanda kaṭākṣa labdha vibhavad-brahmēndra gaṅgādharām ।
tvāṃ trailōkya kuṭumbinīṃ sarasijāṃ vandē mukundapriyām ॥ 15 ॥

(O Goddess Lakshmi, daughter of the milky ocean, dweller of Vaikunt (sriranga dhama refers to Vishnu's abode), served by all servants and spirits, thou art the only eternal light for all worlds; who attracts the grace of even Brahma, Indra, and Shiva; I bow to you, O dweller of all three worlds, born from lotus, and beloved by Mukunda, the Vishnu)

 
मातर्नमामि! कमले! कमलायताक्षि!
श्री विष्णु हृत्-कमलवासिनि! विश्वमातः!
क्षीरोदजे कमल कोमल गर्भगौरि!
लक्ष्मी! प्रसीद सततं समतां शरण्ये ॥ 16 ॥

mātarnamāmi! kamalē! kamalāyatākṣi!
śrī viṣṇu hṛt-kamalavāsini! viśvamātaḥ!
kṣīrōdajē kamala kōmala garbhagauri!
lakṣmī! prasīda satataṃ samatāṃ śaraṇyē ॥ 16 ॥

(O Mother I bow to Thee, O Lotus-bodied, Lotus-eyed, resides in the heart of Vishnu, mother of the universe, took birth from the milky ocean, in the midst of a soft lotus, O Gouri, Lakshmi! always protect me, I bow to you and submit before you)
